Press Conference & Public Open Day
On 06 April 2015 we held an open day for media, tour guides, university students and members of the general public to meet and greet members of the CALI team and get a better sense of what the 2015 campaign is all about. A press conference at the headquarters of the APSARA National Authority was presided over by HE Bun Narith, the Director-General of the APSARA National Authority, and HE Prak Sonnara, the Director-General of Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts. The helicopter landed in front of the main APSARA building following the press conference for public inspection and explanations by the team from McElhanney, followed by site visits to the labs of the Archaeology and Development Foundation to see how lidar is being used, and finishing at excavations being conducted by APSARA at the mysterious “spiral” features south of Angkor Wat that were discovered using lidar in 2012.
Special thanks for organising the successful event go to Long Kosal, Director of Communications at the APSARA National Authority.
